Attainment 8 measures the average achievement of all year 11 students across 8 qualifications including mathematics (double weighted) and English (double weighted), 3 further qualifications that count in the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) measure and 3 further qualifications that can be GCSE qualifications (including EBacc subjects) or any other non-GCSE qualifications on the DfE approved list.
Progress 8 measures the average difference between students’ Attainment 8 score and the average result of those in their prior attainment group. Students who do not have Key Stage 2 scores are not included in the Progress 8 measure.
Both scores are an average across the whole year group. They do not show the variations between individual students. In 2017, two-thirds of our year 11 students had an average Progress 8 score of -0.22.
