Carnegie Medal Day at the University of NottinghamJune 12, 2017 2:58 pm
Last week, Ellis Guilford students took part in Carnegie Medal Day, an event celebrating reading for pleasure held at the University of Nottingham School of Education. The Carnegie Medal is a national book award given to an outstanding book for young people. This event brought together students from school book groups who have spent the past few months reading and discussing the books on the shortlist.
Throughout the day, the book group members participated in a variety of different learning activities based on their favourite Carnegie books. The sessions were designed and led by PGCE students. The event culminated in the school students coming together to pitch their book as the winner to the rest of the participants. Everyone then voted for their choice to win the Carnegie Medal. The final vote was given to Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk.
