We have an INSET Day on Monday 3rd September. We loook forward to welcoming all Students back on Tuesday 4th September.
Hello from the Headteacher
Our motto is ‘Be Your Best’ and we encourage all members of our school community to be ambitious, setting themselves challenging targets for the future. I am fully aware of the difference that education can make to the life chances of young people and want them to understand this and be clear about how they can make the most of the opportunities that Elis Guilford provides.
We apply the LORIC principles of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication to encourage our learners to develop the skills and personal qualities needed to be successful. We are very keen to developed the ‘whole child’ and believe that by adopting a growth mind-set and building resilience our learners can achieve aspirational goals.
Our aim is to create an outstanding learning environment which captures students’ abilities and interests. We offer a broad curriculum which includes both academic and vocational choices. We also engage with local colleges, universities and employers to prepare our students for life beyond school.
We are proud to be a diverse and inclusive school; our students speak over 40 different home languages and come from a range of ethnic backgrounds. We also have a number of students with additional needs. We support our learners through excellent pastoral care and provide a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities to develop their academic, social and physical skills.
Whilst we are pleased with the progress that we have made in many areas of school life, we know we can go even further. By developing quality first teaching and excellent student attitudes we can achieve even better outcomes for all our learners.
As head teacher, I am committed to ensuring that our learners give their best and receive the best so we can continue to make Ellis Guilford a school that the whole community is proud of.
