Hello from the Principal

Our motto is ‘Be Your Best’ and we encourage all members of our school community to be ambitious, setting themselves challenging targets for the future. I am fully aware of the difference that education can make to the life chances of young people and I want all our students to understand this and be clear about how they can make the most of the opportunities that Ellis Guilford provides.

We have three Core Values that we expect our students to demonstrate:

We are proud to be a diverse and inclusive school; our students speak over 40 different home languages and come from a range of ethnic backgrounds. We also have a number of students with additional needs. We support our learners through excellent pastoral care and provide a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities to develop their academic, social and physical skills.

Our aim is to create an inspiring learning environment, which captures students’ abilities and interests. We offer a broad curriculum which includes both academic and vocational choices. We also engage with local colleges, employers and training providers. We have a strong reputation for our successes in sports and were the only school in the country to host the 2012 Olympic Torch.

We joined the Creative Education Trust on 1st November 2018. CET have an excellent track record in supporting schools and we hope that this partnership will enable us to drive improvements and secure even better student progress and outcomes.

As Principal, I am committed to ensuring that Ellis Guilford is a school of which the whole community is proud.
